Since you asked, we thought we’d share the inspiration for the creation of RX Undies.
After medical school, Marie spent a month on a medical mission in rural parts Guatemala and Honduras. Her days consisted of treating local residents of all ages in a general practice setting. As the hot spring days progressed, Marie noted that she was treating a large number of women for yeast and other vaginal infections. Time and time again, she noted that the women suffering from these issues were wearing very tight-fitting nylon underwear. The underwear that these women were wearing didn’t fit properly (it was too small) and it didn’t allow for the passage of air; moisture trapped near the skin was the cause of the infections. This got Marie to thinking about underwear that would readily breathe, would wick away moisture, and could possibly even prevent the growth of bad bacteria…
Marie’s experience in Central America sparked a conversation between her and Aileen and they shared common experiences with ill-fitting thongs made of synthetic/non-breathable material. Together they started generating prototypes, and soon RX Undies were born.
